On Behalf of | Apr 20, 2021 | Car Accidents

After your recent car accident, you suffered severe injuries. You have a legal case to help build, but you also have a recovery to focus on.

WRCB offers tips for healing after a motor vehicle collision. While your legal representative tends to your case, focus on tending to your wounds.

Rest and hydrate

You must respect your new physical and mental limitations. Stay tuned in to your body, so you know when you should rest. The more energy your body devotes to healing rather than other tasks, the better. Also, stay hydrated throughout the day.

Listen to your physician

Do not dismiss or go against your doctor’s orders. You do not want to risk further injury or tear open wounds, which may only prolong your recovery or set you up for unnecessary harm. Do not hesitate to contact your doctor if you have questions or need a reminder for a recommendation or instruction.

Exercise if possible

One question you may ask your physician is whether you may exercise. If so, ask what kind of exercise you may engage in. Along with plenty of rest, exercising may help your body repair itself. If your doctor gives you the go-ahead, take it easy when you first start, as you want to carefully and slowly test your body’s limits. Some simple stretches or yoga may prove sufficient.

Practice patience with yourself

No matter how much you rest, hydrate, exercise and talk with your doctor, you cannot force your body to repair itself faster. Take your recovery one day at a time, as you do not want to risk hurting yourself all over again by doing too much too soon.

By leaving legal matters to the professionals, you give yourself time and space to mend. You must understand your new priorities after your car accident.
